동양의 붓으로는 다루기 힘든 유화의 특성을 극복하고 얻은 동양적 결(texture)과 강렬한 색의 결합을 바탕으로 ‘한국 난’의 아름다움에 대한 표현에 힘쓰는 한편 이를 통해 자신만의 선의 세계를 표현하는데 주력하고 있다. 특히 유화 물감으로 쓴 시(詩), 서(書) 등은 먹을 사용한 서예에서는 볼 수 없는 분위기를 풍긴다.
작품 속의 난은 절망 앞에 놓인 유한한 생명으로서의 자신을 상징함과 동시에 작고 연약한 풀 한 포기지만 ‘향기로 피어올라 천 리를 살아 내는’ 한 떨기 무한함에 대한 동경이자 추구이다.
“아직까지 살아 숨 쉬는 듯한 난잎 하나조차 그려보지 못했다.” 말하는 그는 흰 캔버스에 한 점, 한 줄을 놓는 순간 연기처럼 사라져버린다는 그 완벽이 어느 날 바람에 향기 풍길 한 송이 난꽃으로 피어오르길 오늘도 꿈꾼다.

Based on the combination of oriental textures and intense colors obtained by overcoming the characteristics of oil paintings that are difficult to handle with oriental brushes, he is striving to express the beauty of the Korean orchid, and is focusing on expressing his own world of good. In particular, poems and books written in oil paint give off an atmosphere that cannot be seen in calligraphy using ink.
The orchid in the work symbolizes himself as a finite life in front of despair, and at the same time, it is a small and fragile plant, but it is a longing and pursuit of the infiniteness of ‘blooming up with scent and living a thousand miles.’
“I haven't even drawn a single leaf that seems to be alive and breathing yet.” Talking, he dreams today that the perfection, which disappears like smoke the moment he puts a line on a white canvas, will one day rise into a flower with a scent in the wind.
