It comes with a massive 4600mAh battery which lasts up to 170-minutes when mopping and suction are set to standard mode (it is able to run longer in turbo). It will even return to the dock to top up its battery part way through cleaning.

It's very efficient and does a great job of cleaning my two bedroom apartment. It is able to vacuum carpeted rooms quickly and hardwood floors in the kitchen, living room and hallways in just one motion. Its suction motor of 8,000pa is quick at picking up dirt, droppings and pet hair. Carpet detection boosts power automatically when it encounters rugs and the two side brushes help to tease out debris from corners.

The mopping efficiency is less impressive, but not by a lot. The rotating mop spins at a high rate and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, easily cleaning up dirt and staining. I've also noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which is useful to get into tight corners and on baseboards. The front arms can also be used to sweep larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and fallen books.

The S1 Pro is also one of the quietest robot mops and vacuums I've tested. It is quieter and doesn't produce more noise when vacuuming or mopping. The only issue is that the S1 Pro must use a proprietary cleaning solution for mopping, and is sold separately from the vacuum. It's easy to install and works well however, this is something that you'll need to keep an eye on if you're buying this robot vacuum for the sole purpose of mopping.

The base has a couple of buttons for control that allow you to manually start cleaning tasks, recall the robot or use the dock's auto-emptying procedure. Hold down two buttons to turn off the child lock. This is a great feature for parents who are worried about their children playing with the vacuum.

Similar to other robotic vacuums, the X1 Omni utilizes its camera to detect furniture and obstacles in its path, and then avoid them. True Mapping 2.0 navigation maps your home up to four times faster than laser detection systems.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni could sometimes get so entangled with an obstruction, such as a power cord draped across a rug, that it gets stuck and stops working until you free it. This is a rare event however it was frustrating because the X1 doesn't have a "stuck status" alert on its application.

Another issue that could be a problem is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically switch between mopping and vacuuming modes during cleaning. You will need to manually switch between the two, which isn't a big deal apart from the fact that the mopping pads haven't been cleaned and dried between use, which can lead to mildew or mold.

On the positive side, the X1 Omni is a beautiful-looking robot thanks to the design team at Jacob Jensen (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who dreamed up its modern and sleek base as well as mopping pad. It's a significant departure from the utilitarian all-black bases of rivals like Roborock or iRobot. It's also an excellent choice for an industry dominated by boxy models.
