Types of UPVC Door Handles

Lever/Lever

The forces produced when you push on the handle of a front door will result in rotational effects similar to these.

However, levers don't create energy. They simply multiply the force you apply by converting a small amount of effort across a large distance into a larger amount of force applied over a shorter distance. Levers are used to lift heavy objects and move large amounts of cargo. The lever principle is employed in everyday tools such as crowbars. hammer claws fishing rods, hammer claws and even your own legs, as you are standing on your car's hand brake.

Lever/Pad

Lever pad handles, also known as upvc door handles, have levers on each side to operate the multipoint locks. They come in a variety of designs & finishes and are suitable for a variety of materials including UPVC, aluminium door handle & Timber doors. They are sold as a pair for the inner and outer door with spindles & screws included. They are also available in handed and unhandled versions to suit different users.

These are often used for new constructions and are installed to replace window handles doors made of upvc. The levers are raised to open the multipoint locks and the key is turned to close or unlock the door. They offer a little more security than the standard lever handles for doors since locking is only done through the inside with the key.

They are not as safe as a cylinder lock however they are cost-effective ways to increase the security of your home. The only drawback is that they do not provide the same level protection as a cylinder lock, and so don't prevent external access to the home when the door is left open.

This popular handle style is typically used for front doors. This is accomplished through an external 'pad' handle that locks into the gap between the handles and the lock case to stop the latch from being pulled back or the door from being opened.

This handle is designed to work with uPVC multipoint locks that employ a split spindle mechanism. This kind of operation requires the lever handle and the external pad handle to be fitted on the same sash lock door handles case. Lever/Moveable Snib

The lever/lever handle is among the most popular types of upvc door handles and is available in a range of designs. It is comprised of two moveable inline handles and can be locked with either a key or a thumbturn cylinder on the inside. A pad handle can be used as an alternative to lever or lever handles. It consists of either one that is fixed or moveable which can be used to operate locks. These Fullex handles have a spring-loaded lever pads with snibs that can be triggered to stop the latch from closing.
