1. Engine Speed Sensor

The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the boost, fuel, and timig. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu needs to be aware of when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and the location of the camshaft to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails the ECU will throw the P00160 error, which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft aren't in sync and possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper timing chain. However, the code won't appear on its own without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It's a bit tricky to test as there are various pins on the connector, and they all have different functions. The best way to do it is by measuring the resistance between the ECU and the sensor. If the sensor is functional, it should read around 1000 ohms. Check for signs of coolant or oil in the connector bay if there are issues with this component.

2. Injectors

Yesterday accelerating full speed from highway paytoll i had a big cut in power like the engine is running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing any more. In the morning, i removed the spark plugs. Three were drenched with gazoline the fourth one was dry. When I crank the engine, there are no sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline jump out but the 4th one stays closed. I checked the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and audi car Key cover 48/55. I got 0ohm. I'm assuming the issue is somewhere else.

I also tried to reset PID without success. The car is able to start when the G28 is disconnected and is running fine when it is plugged in but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temp value -49c even when i unplug it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars while the actual pressure is 0.

I'm not certain what to do, as i think i've pretty much completely ruled out all other possibilities. But i am afraid I may have missed something. If anyone has suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 gets a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is identical to the G4 and both are used in the 80, 100, 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or at a parts store. It is simple to test them to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and take measurements between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's side).
