How to Replace an spare audi key G28 Engine Speed Sensor

In this video Charles the Humble Mechanic shows how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated at the top of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a message to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends a signal to ECU pin T55/49 through an uncolored wire. The ECU then utilizes this information to regulate the flow of fuel, timig and boost. It also sends an indicator to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference point to connect with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu must know when the crankshaft reached TDC and also the location of the camshaft so that it can activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails when it fails, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This means that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also be a sign of a chain stretch or a jumpy chain link in the upper timing chain. The code won't appear without the additional information supplied by other sensors (G4 or G40).

Testing is a bit challenging since there are two connector pins and they serve different purposes but the best way to test it is to measure the resistance between the sensor relevant website and the ECU. When the sensor Audi A1 Key Replacement is fully functional, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. If you're having issues with this sensor, look for evidence of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll i had an abrupt drop in power like the engine is out of gas or the injectors aren't firing at all. I pulled out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put a piece of tissue over each hole in the injector and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump out. The 4th one stays closed. I tried to test the ground connections of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I got 0ohm. I think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start if the G28 is not plugged in and runs fine when it is plugged in, but still has the intermittent misfire issue at higher RPM. The coolant temperature sensor (G62) shows the wrong temperature value of that is -49c even after unplugging it. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bars when the actual pressure is zero.

I don't know what to do. I think I've all other possibilities out. I'm afraid i may have missed something. Let me know If you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump of the g28 receives signals from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or from a parts store. Test them out to do - just put your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's side up) and 2 (2nd from the left on the black connector's end). They should be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that needs to know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It utilizes a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If either of these go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which could cause engine shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor are an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when you're in gear. It is possible that the sensor is failing and needs to be replaced if you encounter any of these signs. The good thing is that they are quite affordable and easy to find particularly in the case of a Bosch model, like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this unit is also a good option.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine speed sensor could be a cause for a slew of problems in your vehicle. It is a crucial part of your audi car key cover's transmission, because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the car's crankshaft is rotating. If this sensor fails, it could affect the performance of the transmission and the rest of the car's components.

The G5 engine sensor is located at the outskirts of the transmission, just above the flywheel ring. It transmits an electrical signal through an uncolored wire to the ECU pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this signal to control fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer in instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79]) as well as between T6a/1, and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see the resistance to be around 1000 ohms in these areas. This is a standard part across the replacement spare audi key key cost (pattern-wiki.win) 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU. Good ones might be availble in wrecking yards.
