WoW Upgrades - The Item Upgrader

Upgrades will give you a boost to specific stats. Each upgrade increases the level of an item upgrade by 3. Each upgrade also increases an unspecified substat.

The more modernized gear generally has a higher trade value, unless it has inherently low requirements (like the FB shield of the sorc) or has a high stat variation (like eth titan weapons). Upgrades aren't as important for the latter because of the requirement to roll a perfect version.

Upgrade costs vary depending on the slot of the item and the current item Level upgrade level. For example weapons are more expensive than bracers, or gloves. Each upgrade costs 15 Flightstones and a few crests, with some upgrades offering discounts to lower the cost of the Flightstones or crests used. Once an item has been upgraded to a certain level and is degraded, it can be sold and returned to the upgrader for a lower amount of both currency types.

The use of these currencies isn't too difficult however, the system introduces some modifications to the upgrade process. When a piece of equipment reaches the highest level of upgrade for any rank (Explorer or Adventurer) it no longer requires Flightstones. This change lets players upgrade their equipment to the highest possible ilvl for all their characters rather than relying on seasonal loot.

Another notable change is that crests have one usage and it's crucial to use them properly. For instance it's Best item upgrade to utilize all of your Whelpling rank crests on the top equipment you have and then keep Drake and Wyrm crests to use for the next set of upgrades you plan on making. This is especially relevant for trinkets and rings that occupy multiple slots on the character which can only be eligible to benefit from the account-wide discount when all of the slots are filled with top-quality equipment.
