"I am writing this exactly four weeks after having my first microdermabrasion facial, and I can still see the dramatic results I gained from the treatment. My skin is clear and glowing again – which is something I never thought would happen after suffering with break outs over the past six months.

I booked the appointment at Soho Skin as a last attempt at clearing up my spots, after struggling to find a product that actually worked its magic like it said it would. Like most people who suffer from redness, bruising and black heads, I felt self conscious about talking through the problem. But during my consultation, skincare therapist Sophia Williams made me feel instantly comfortable and assured me that I would be pleased with the outcome.

A week later I returned to the salon for the treatment. Sophia first cleansed my skin before running a quick analysis to see if the condition had changed since we last spoke. She did a second cleanse before the mircrodermabrasion, which she told me uses tiny crystals to exfoliate the skin. The first exfoliation was for general coverage; followed by a second to work on the areas of concern – congestion, open pores, fine lines and pigmentation – and a third using lifting movements to plump the overall look of the skin. The treatment was fast and relaxing, not painful like some facials can be, and took about 45 minutes – perfect for a lunchtime or after work treat. Sophia finished the facial with a vitamin C mask, specifically tailored for my dry skin.

Aside from the incredibly thorough procedure, the experience of the salon as a whole I would recommend to anyone. Having a consultation beforehand meant that upon arrival, Sophia asked me how my skin was, rather than awkward small talk, which can often put people off trying out new places. Not only are the staff warm and welcoming but the atmosphere of the clinic – based in the heart of London’s Soho – gives a fresh twist on dated beauty salons, with every beautician selecting their own music for each treatment room.

I went straight to work after having my facial and my colleagues instantly noticed my glowing complexion, which has lasted until now with a party holiday to Ibiza inbetween. My spots have completely cleared and I can’t wait to see what can be achieved after I get the facial done again next month. At £55, it was a small price to pay for a treatment that actually works."
