' I attempted to switch off a bedside light and felt like something wasn't ideal with me. I understood immediately it was a stroke.' In July 2023, after an active vacation kayaking and walking, Bob suddenly had a stroke. He was zipped air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he invested four weeks restoring. 'I utilized the fitness center frequently and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehab program for people who have had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured timetable which provided me something to anticipate weekly - socially, psychologically and emotionally.' Bob thanked NHS personnel for 'the fantastic support' and the ongoing physiotherapy he received. Well done Bob and great work team! Early acknowledgment of stroke signs can save lives. ' Working alongside nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to think, 'I might do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who started her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she joined Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve clients in Hertfordshire. 'I liked helping people and finding out about the body, so nursing simply felt right.' Sharon reflects. Sharon has operated in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy to call a couple of, showing the wide variety of locations in which nurses make a distinction. 'Truly, I can't think about a location where nurses don't make an effect in some form,' Sharon admits. On why her role is unique, Sharon describes, 'The care, compassion, and compassion we bring make the nursing function unique.
