' I have discovered that books can transfer kids to another place.' Judith has been volunteering as a bedside reader at Birmingham Women's and Children's NHS Foundation Trust given that 2003. After retiring from teaching, Judith wished to continue to use her storytelling skills to assist children who are improperly. 'I had actually constantly taken pleasure in reading to the children in school at the end of the day. You might see them visibly unwind and be soaked up by the story. Mark signed up with the NHS in his 30s after leaving his family's organization without any formal qualifications, however a drive to make a difference. ' I tried to change off a bedside lamp and seemed like something wasn't right with me. I knew quickly it was a stroke.' In July 2023, after an active holiday kayaking and walking, Bob all of a sudden had a stroke. He was flown by air ambulance to University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust, where he spent 4 weeks restoring. 'I used the fitness center often and did neurorehabilitation online (NROL)'. NROL is a group rehabilitation programme for individuals who have had a stroke or have other neurological conditions. 'I had a structured schedule which provided me something to anticipate weekly - socially, mentally and emotionally.' Bob thanked NHS personnel for 'the great support' and the continuous physiotherapy he got. Well done Bob and fantastic work group! Early acknowledgment of stroke signs can save lives. ' Working together with nurses and seeing the distinction they made inspired me to believe, 'I might do that!" Meet Sharon, a sexual health nurse and non-medical prescriber who started her nursing journey in 1985 at the Royal Liverpool Teaching Hospital. In 2010 she signed up with Central London Community Healthcare NHS Trust and continues to serve clients in Hertfordshire. 'I loved assisting individuals and discovering the body, so nursing just felt right.' Sharon reflects. Sharon has operated in male infertility, menopause, miscarriage and colposcopy to call a few, showing the large range of locations in which nurses make a distinction. 'Truly, I can't think about a location where nurses do not make an impact in some kind,' Sharon confesses. On why her function is special, Sharon describes, 'The care, compassion, and empathy we bring make the nursing role unique. As client advocates, we assist guarantee their journey is supported, informed, and genuinely meaningful.' There are more than 50 various types of nursing roles offered in the NHS.
