How to Replace an audi car key replacement q3 audi advanced key (Keep Reading) G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Kia-Motors-New-2021.pngIn this video, Charles the Humble Mechanic demonstrates how to replace the G28 engine speed sensor. The sensor is situated near the edges of the transmission just above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU through an uncolored wire T55/49, then to the tachometer on the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear, the G28 Engine Speed Sensor sends signals to ECU pin T55/49 using a grey wire. The ECU uses this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends a signal to the G5 tachometer in the instrument cluster.

The sensor serves as a reference for comparing with the G40 Camshaft Position Sensor. The ecu has to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC and also where the camshaft lies in order to activate the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails to function, the ECU will display an error code P00160. This indicates that the Crank Shaft is out of alignment with the Intake Camshaft. It could also indicate an issue with the chain or a jump in the chain link of the upper chain. However, the error code won't appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

Testing is a bit tricky because there are two connector pins, and they have different functions but the best method to test it is to measure resistance between the sensor and the ECU. When the sensor is operational, it should read approximately 1000 ohms. Look for evidence of coolant or oil in the connector bay if you have issues with this part.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, while accelerating at full speed from the highway paytoll, I experienced a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors aren't firing any more. I took out the spark plugs this morning, 3 were drenched in gasoline and the 4th was dry. I put tissue over each hole in the injector and when I turn the engine on without sparks, the 3 with gazoline jump right out. The 4th one stays closed. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30 and 48/55. I found 0ohm. Therefore, i think the issue is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID with no success. The car can start when the G28 is unplugged and it runs perfectly when it is plugged in but it still has intermittent misfire issues at higher RPM. The temperature sensor for coolant (G62) shows the wrong temperature of that is -49c even after unplugging it. Also, i noticed that the gauge for oil pressure in the cockpit shows 2 bar when the actual pressure is 0.0 when I crank up the engine.

I'm not sure what to do, but i think i've pretty much eliminated everything else. But i'm worried that I may have missed something. If anyone has any suggestions, please chime in! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump on the g28 is activated by a signal sent by the RPM sensor. The GM-style transmitter is the same as the G4 and both function in the 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars which is why you can easily locate one at a salvage yard or at a parts store. Testing them is easy by putting your DMM in resistance mode and measure between pins 1 (with the bump on the connector's end up) and 2 (2nd from left on the black connector's side). They must be infinite Ohms.

4. ECU

Our 20vt turbo (3B AAN, ABY, and ADU) engines are equipped with an ECU that has to know the position and speed of the crankshaft to make decisions about timing of the fuel injectors, etc. It uses a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to achieve this. If you are experiencing issues with either one of these, the diagnostic scanner will show codes that could lead to an engine shutdown.

Some of the symptoms of a failed G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter for the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. It is probable that the sensor is failing and requires to be replaced if you experience any of these symptoms. They are cheap and easy-to-find, especially when they're an Bosch sensor like ours. Alternately, the GM version of this part is also a good choice.

5. Tachometer

A malfunctioning engine sensor can cause a myriad of issues in your audi car key replacement. It is a crucial part of the replacement audi key cost uk's transmission because it communicates to the ECU about how fast or slow the vehicle's crankshaft is turning. This sensor could cause the transmission to malfunction and other components in the car to be affected.

woman-showing-the-car-keys-2022-12-16-22-09-32-utc-min-scaled.jpgThe G5 engine speed sensor is located at the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It transmits a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49 via an uncolored wire. The ECU then uses and processes the signal to control fuel, timig, and boost as well as transmitting it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection via pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should see around 1000 ohms of resistance between these two points. This part is common across the audi a3 replacement key 80-100-200-RS2 model, ranging from the 1985 MC up to the 1997 UrS AN and the 1995 RS2 Du So, you may find them in wrecking yards.
