Wood is one of the most essential and used materials in Palworld tips , making lumbering a resourceful skill to have. Players can set up a Logging Site at their base or venture out into the wild and use any type of axe to chop down trees. As players level up and unlock more structures, weapons, and tools, players will have a greater need to stockpile as much wood as possible.

Luckily, the Pals of Palworld strategy are always available to lend a helping hand, whether it's at the base or out in the wild. In total, 36 different Pals possessing the Lumbering skill. They will target trees or any structure that provides wood, and start hacking away. Some Pals are better at this skill than others, while some may be harder to track down and catch. Here is a list of some of the best Pals, who also happen to be easier to find and catch.

Early in the game, players will find Tanzee , the little green monkey who always has a smile on its face. This playful creature comes in bunches, is easy to knock down and catch, and becomes a helpful Pal back at the base. It's also one of the more common Grass types in the early game, making its versatility sought after.

Tanzee's skills, including Lumbering, all start at Level 1, the lowest in the game. What makes Tanzee a considerable worker is his flexibility in many departments, which includes Planting, Handiwork, Transporting, and Gathering. This Pal is just as helpful for chopping down trees, as it is standing by and bringing the wood stock to storage. Sending out a few into the base will return a good amount of wood earlier on in the playthrough.

Another Grass type encountered early in the game is Lifmunk, an adorable chipmunk with murderous intentions. Lifmunk is one of the few Pals in the game to run away from contact, even if it is being hit. This makes tracking them down and catching more difficult, but its ability to sit atop a player's head and use a firearm, along with its utility back at the base, make Lifmunk a great Pal to add.

Like Tanzee, Lifmunk excels in multiple areas and can be quite an asset. Lifmunk possesses Level 1 Lumbering, Planting, Gathering, Handiwork, and Medicine. While its services are more suited towards crafting medicinal products, it's a good secondary option to chip away at some trees to provide additional stock. Its cute animation of smacking trees with its tail is also a sight to witness, even if it's just for a laugh.

In the first hour of gameplay, players will run into the gigantic Pal known as Mammorest. Not only is it hard to miss, but its intimidating life bar and high level are sure to send shivers down any player's spine. It's mostly a docile creature, which means it won't attack upon sight, but will shred anything that attacks first. It's best to avoid this beast until a bit later in the game, unless players get incredibly lucky with a Mammorest catch and make it part of their team.

Mammorest is a step up from the previous two Pals, sporting a Level 2 Lumbering skill. This means its wood-chopping skills grant the player more stock at a much faster rate. It's also useful for Planting and Mining, which are also at Level 2. This giant mammoth will plow through stone and tend to the crops. Just be careful with Mammorest defending against raids, as it might accidentally stomp through structures due to its size.

Palworld Guide adventurers are blessed with yet another Level 2 Lumbering Pal. The Grass and Dragon Dinossom is a solid addition to the base. These lovable creatures can be found in the first couple of areas, spawning one at a time, and present one of the first challenges for catching. They escape Pal Spheres more frequently compared to the Lamballs in the area, and have a good move set for battling opposing foes.

These beasts also come with a Level 2 Planting skill, which means they are equally effective at planting seeds as they are at cutting down trees. Dinossom are good defenders too, and can easily switch from tending the base to keeping pesky raiding Pals at bay. This is one of the best early-game encounters for lumbering and stands the test of time as a good provider, regardless of level.

palworld-eikthyrdeer-icon.png?fit=contain&h=22&w=22 Eikthyrdeer may seem intimidating at first, and they do hit hard when attacked, but they can be an excellent source of wood gathering if players prepare for them. These deer-like Pals roam many regions early on and come in pairs, which requires players to take on both in battle at the same time. Eikthyrdeer will dash and stomp, and pack quite a punch, but with some patience and the help of a higher-level Pal, adding one to the team shouldn't be too difficult.

They have a Lumbering skill of Level 2 and can quickly add to the wood collection by letting two of them loose, but unfortunately, it's the only skill they come with. The good news is that these Pals are excellent riding companions , as purchasing their saddle will allow players to travel Palworld much quicker than on foot.

This encounter will take a lot of patience and a little look, but adding palworld-wumpo-icon.png?fit=contain&h=22&w=22 Wumpo or palworld-wumpo-botan-icon.png?fit=contain&h=22&w=22 Wumpo Botan to the team is a game changer. They're incredibly difficult to find in the wild, with the Ice variant roaming the snowy regions and Wumpo Botan appearing in a small area. Fortunately, Wumpo can hatch from a Large Ice Egg , which means getting one relatively early is possible.

Wumpo is one of only four Pals with a Level 3 Lumbering skill, making it one of the best encounters of the game for this particular area. Wumpo Botan also comes with Transporting at Level 4, Handiwork at Level 2, and Planting at Level 1. The Ice version is slightly more efficient, trading the Planting skill for Level 2 Cooling, which is wonderful for those treacherously hot days. The only other Pals to have this level of efficiency are Warsect and Bushi, two incredibly difficult Pals to catch.
