Removing and inserting clear aligners correctly is essential to ensure they fit properly, work effectively, and last as long as possible.

To remove your aligners, start by washing your hands thoroughly with soap and water — this prevents transferring bacteria to your mouth or the aligners. Next, use your fingertips to gently pull the aligner away from your back molars on one side — avoid using nails, tweezers, or tools, which may damage the thermoplastic material. Ease the aligner off gradually, beginning at the back and sliding it forward along the dental arch — avoid pulling straight down on the front teeth, as this can cause uneven pressure and potentially warp the aligner.

Before placing them in your mouth, rinse the aligners under lukewarm or cool running water — do not use hot water, as it can cause the plastic to soften and lose its shape. Align the tray with your teeth, starting with the front teeth. Press the aligner down steadily with your thumb and forefinger until it adheres securely to all teeth. Then, use your fingertips to press along the edges, especially near the back teeth, to help the aligner seat fully. Use the provided chewie or a sterile gauze pad to apply even pressure and eliminate trapped air.

Treat your aligners with precision and gentleness. Never attempt to seat aligners by biting down, and always take them out before eating or drinking anything other than water. Always return aligners to their case when removed, and clean them daily using a soft-bristled brush and tepid water. Refrain from using whitening or gritty toothpaste, which can cloud or scratch the surface.

If you feel unusual pressure or discomfort after inserting your aligners, give them a few minutes to adjust. Discomfort for the first 24–48 hours is typical when transitioning to a new tray. But if the aligner does not fit at all or causes persistent pain, contact your orthodontist right away. Proper care and technique will keep your aligners in good condition and help you achieve the best results from your treatment.
